Ali A. Akhtar
Attorney
Ali A. Akhtar joined the firm in December 2011. Although he has been a practicing attorney for 12 years now, he has almost exclusively focused since 2004 on helping individuals who have suffered physical injuries or financial losses due to the negligence, recklessness, or fraud of others. He does so with the philosophy that at times like these, people need sensitive and experienced help to recover and return to their normal lives.
Mr. Akhtar developed this approach to representing people from growing up in small towns in Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Kansas. He attended the University of Michigan Law School (consistently ranked among the top ten law schools in the nation), and interned at one of the largest law firms in Texas (with multiple national and international offices, representing hundreds of corporate and business clients).
He found, however, that his passion was to pursue a "people's practice," working one on one with people in need. For example, while attending law school, he worked for the Child Advocacy Law Clinic, where he successfully represented the interests of abused and neglected children in the State of Michigan family court system. Mr. Akhtar has managed hundreds of cases on behalf of injured individuals throughout his professional career, both by negotiating settlements and by taking cases to jury trial. In addition to being licensed in all Texas state courts, Mr. Akhtar is also licensed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Presently, in addition to being very active in his legal practice and in the community, he enjoys writing on a number of topics, maintaining a blog (The Austintatious Lawyer) which contains a number of his short articles and information resources that can help Texas citizens and consumers. The Austintatious Lawyer can be visited at http://www.akhtarlaw.com.
Mr. Akhtar is married and has two young sons, and enjoys playing competitive tennis.
